How the News Filter Protects Your Trades

Major economic announcements are among the most dangerous moments in forex trading. Events like central bank interest rate decisions, monthly jobs reports, and inflation figures can cause currency pairs to move dozens of pips in seconds — often in both directions — before the market settles. Even a well-analysed trade can be stopped out instantly by this kind of volatility.

PipsCrusher's News Filter monitors the global economic calendar and automatically manages your trading activity around these events.

What events are tracked? The filter covers high-impact and medium-impact economic releases across all major currencies — including interest rate decisions, inflation data (CPI), employment figures (NFP), GDP releases, and central bank speeches.

When an event affects a particular currency, all pairs containing that currency are included in the protection window.

What happens when a news event approaches? During the time window leading up to and following a major event, the News Filter: 1. Pauses new trades — no new positions are opened on affected pairs while the window is active 2. Protects open positions — for any positions already open on affected pairs, the filter tightens the stop loss ahead of high-impact events, reducing the amount at risk if the announcement causes a sudden move against your trade

You can shorten or widen these windows to match your personal risk tolerance.

Where can I see upcoming events? Your dashboard includes a live economic calendar that shows all upcoming events, which currencies they affect, and whether any pause windows are currently active. You can see at a glance what is coming up and whether trading on specific pairs is currently paused.

How to enable it: Go to Settings → EA Configuration and toggle on "News Filter". Your pause window preferences can be set on the same page.
