Understanding Martingale Recovery Mode

An honest explanation of what Martingale Recovery Mode does, how it works in PipsCrusher, and what to consider before enabling it.

Martingale Recovery is an optional position-sizing strategy that increases your trade size after consecutive losing trades. The goal is straightforward: when you win after a losing streak, the larger position size recovers your previous losses in a single trade — then sizing returns to normal.

How it works in PipsCrusher: The system looks at your most recent closed trades. If you have back-to-back losses, each new trade is sized larger than the one before, following a doubling pattern:

No recent losses: normal size (1x)
1 consecutive loss: 2x normal size
2 consecutive losses: 4x normal size
3 consecutive losses: 8x normal size

You choose your maximum level (up to 3). If you set the maximum to 2, sizing will go up to 4x but no further, even with more losses. The moment you win, sizing resets immediately to 1x for the next trade.

There is also a hard cap on position size to prevent any runaway escalation beyond safe limits.

What are the risks? It is important to be honest about this: Martingale works well when losses are short-lived. During extended losing streaks — which do happen in any trading system — position sizes can grow significantly before a win arrives. This means potential losses during a bad streak are higher than with a fixed sizing approach.

This is why Martingale Recovery is turned off by default. It requires you to deliberately go into your settings and switch it on. It is best suited for traders who have studied their strategy's historical win rate and have a realistic expectation of how long consecutive losing runs can last.

When might it make sense? Traders using high-probability strategies with consistent win rates often find that back-to-back losses are rare and short. In those cases, Martingale can meaningfully speed up recovery from occasional losing patches without requiring large draw-down periods.

If you are new to the platform, we recommend running without Martingale for at least 30-60 days to understand your strategy's natural behavior first.

How to enable it: Go to Settings → EA Configuration on your dashboard. Toggle on "Martingale Recovery" and choose your maximum level. You can disable it at any time.
